Cole Peacock, co-owner of Seed & Bean Market in Fort Myers, didn’t hold back when asked about Florida’s new law targeting citizen-led amendments.
“I’m not in favor of ever taking away the voice of the people or the voters. And that essentially is what is happening right now.”
Having backed past cannabis legalization efforts, Peacock expressed concern that the new barriers go too far.
“I think it’s going to make it almost impossible for initiatives to pass,” he added.
With grassroots movements already struggling to meet Florida’s 60% threshold, Peacock worries this added red tape could silence everyday Floridians trying to create change.
